Made Whole
// Made Whole //
East meets West. I was educated by a friend who loves the white-blue porcelain that there is a difference between Chinese porcelain and Dutch porcelain. Couldn't rem the exact details but I did my own google, and this is what it says:
Chinese porcelain is naturally white and translucent, whereas delftware uses a white-tin glaze to mimic its appearance, and its underlying clay body is visible as a yellow or pinkish color when seen in cross-section. Delftware also features European-inspired motifs alongside Chinese designs, and while many pieces are blue and white, the decoration can include other colors like green, orange, and purple.
Apparently according to this friend who saw Made Whole that she could tell there are two different types of porcelain in this piece. I confide in her that I had upcycled a pretty bracelet I got on a KLM flight to Bali.
This piece also has baroque freshwater pearls and lilac blue glass beads. This again is probably the only piece I have made like this for a long long time. These porcelain pieces are hard to come by.
